Thought I'd start collecting great stories about vets helping vets and other groups dedicated to helping vets rebuild their lives.  Some of the best stories are at CS Monitor in their segments about Change Agents:

Homelessness:

Family Promise - formerly the National Interfaith Hospitality Network, a volunteer-driven nonprofit organization that works to provide shelter, meals, and support services to homeless families, along with family-mentoring services and job-training programs.  Family Promise now has 182 affiliates in 41 states helping families in need achieve independence and self-sufficiency.
