Dennys Funny Quotes: Check Out Funny Business Names in Louisiana: From Denny:  Of the few local newspapers left in America - before they get gobbled up and homogenized by Big Business to turn a bigger profit - there are those small papers that still retain a local flavor.  Baton Rouge, Louisiana and The Advocate is one of them.

A local reporter by the name of Smiley Anders has been collecting and writing this funny column since 1979 when he first started in the business.  The public write in their true stories of funny situations that happened to them.  The public also pass on local Cajun jokes for good measure.

One day Smiley was calling out for readers to send in funny business names they have seen in their Louisiana communities.  Some of the names are downright odd and funny crazy.  Some business owners actually invested in these silly names!...

From Denny:  Since I'm past due on posting about all my new designs the past year for Denny Lyon Gifts to benefit charities helping homeless female military veterans who were victims of sexual assaults I might as well get started today.

This was a fun design to create after drinking too much coffee one morning. :) We do so enjoy that awesome aroma every morning wafting out of the kitchen to rocket us out of bed to begin our day.  So, I just had to place it on an unexpected product choice:  handbags and wallets!

To "gild the lily" there were two more coordinating patterns if you want to experience some creative fun to mix and match.  The nautical theme is popular in fashion now as the 60's retro is back on the scene.  Of course, with my usual, sometimes off kilter art mind, I thought how cool is it to think of "navigating" our way to the welcoming waters of our morning coffee as a major achievement?

So, as a writer too my idea of a symbolic representation of the nautical rope just had to be the keyboard's ampersand symbol.  The dashes reminded me of the old Morse Code of dots and dashes to send for help with an SOS signal when out on the water and your boat motor dies.  It seems like low tech is in need when your shortwave radio is broken and there isn't a cell tower in sight.  Yes, those old low tech goodies like Morse Code can come in handy!

A Truth Journal: Military Sexual Assaults: Finally Time For Entire Pentagon Chiefs to Resign?: From Denny:  After a damning report that revealed 26,000 sexual assaults just in 2012 alone, you would think someone over at the Pentagon would resign in shame.

After 3400 plus officially reported cases that actually went up the chain of command from a few brave commanders not willing to cover it up, there were only 190 of those 3400 plus sexual assaults and rapes that went to court.  No one resigned in shame for this pathetic record...

A Truth Journal: Scumbag Alert: Pentagon Still Promoting Rape and Sexual Assault: From Denny:  While the entire country and the President are appalled at the Pentagon's missteps to correct their vile attitude toward female service members, thousands of women are not getting justice.  Their rapists continue to be promoted to higher positions in the military, never punished or dishonorably discharged.  To add insult to injury the raped service members must salute that superior officer while she finishes her time in the military.

The Pentagon starts up sensitivity training programs, claiming they have vetted the men placed in charge of them.  Yeah?  Just recently one man was found to have sexually assaulted a woman in a public parking lot. Obviously, he is mocking the very issue of rape and sexual assault publicly.  He was also in charge of one of those classes and possess a high rank he certainly does not deserve.

The Pentagon claims that men should be in charge of these programs because the troops will not take women seriously as the leaders of these programs.  Really?  What the Pentagon is really saying is that they don't take any military women seriously.  Why are they even bothering with sensitivity training in the first place?  Does Sec. Hagel really believe that re-vetting those in charge of these programs is really going to change the outcome?

From Denny:  The Republican political machine has been frantically busy of late.  The 2016 mud-slinging is in full swing in mid-2013.  Guess these guys just couldn't wait.

They also saw an opening when Team Obama got lazy again after winning their second term.  It just goes to show if you want to stay on top of the mountain then you had better look busy, pushing hard ahead,  chasing after millions of jobs for underemployed and jobless Americans if you don't want to get knocked off the top of that presidential mountain.  That might also explain why President Obama has dropped down to the 65th position in the Most Trusted List this year...

A Truth Journal: Veterans Affairs Claims Logjam: Should Prez Obama Declare National Emergency?: From Denny:  There's a wonderful reason my husband is nicknamed "Satan" at our house.  Most times it's because he specializes in being the most annoying irritating person on the planet because it's his idea of fun when he gets bored - while he is the only person laughing. There are those times when Home "Satan" comes up with a wickedly good idea. "Satan" proposed it is past due time for President Obama to issue an executive order to declare a temporary suspension of all federal workers' rights and pay who work in the Veterans Affairs Administration until the claims logjam is accomplished.

Shocking, isn't it?  What's more shocking is how many veterans are committing suicide as a result of the VA falling down on the job.  Let the unions and the courts sort it out later.  As President, Mr. Obama should bring this call to action to pierce the logjam with a motivation for workers to keep their jobs.

A Truth Journal: Jon Stewart Hammers Vet Affairs Failing to Break 1 Million Claims Logjam: From Denny:  While other equally pressing news stories push to the front of the public's attention - like Israel attacking idiot terrorist-supporting Syria and the tragic Boston marathon bombing by less experienced terrorists - the very soldiers who fought America's terrorism wars are told to wait for help by the Dept. of Veterans Affairs.

Granted the VA does process around one million claims a year, all this while in the midst of trying to change over from an outdated dinosaur 1970's paper culture and advance into the digital age.  Currently, they are looking at another two years before believing they will have arrived in said digital age.  Let's get real; multiple that by ten and the estimate might be near accurate.

A Truth Journal: Breaking News: 1 Boston Terrorist Dead, 1 in House to House Search: From Denny:  It's 5 AM at our house and we woke up to breaking news on the Boston Marathon terrorist bombings.  The police have Boston in lock down right now.

The terrorist suspect number one with the dark baseball hat and sunglasses had an IED strapped to his chest, challenged the police with a hail of bullets, and was killed "suicide by cop."

Last night about 10 PM in Cambridge a 7-11 convenience store robbery by these two suspects where they killed an MIT campus police officer.
